FAQs
What is a wiki?
A wiki is a software that allows users to create and edit content in a collaborative manner
Who is it for, who can edit or comment on the standard?
The wiki is for use by everyone who registers. Anyone is able to edit or comment on the standard and we encourage all to do so. It may seem intimidating to edit the document but that is the point, so please just go ahead and have your say
How do I edit the wiki text
Making edits is very simple. Essentially you click on edit alongside the text you want to change, type in your edit and click save – easy! For slightly more detail please take a look at our users guide. Users' Guide
How do I make a comment on a specific point without editing the text
To post a comment instead of making a direct edit you click the discussion link at the top of the page. You can then chose to make a new comment or reply to an existing comment. You are encouraged to make comments to raise a new point or explain an edit you have made. When you enter a comment please enter a subject as this will automatically attach your username to your comment, without this it will be unclear who made the comment.
Can I download or print the whole standard in a single document
You can download the whole standard in pdf form via the link on the homepage. You can also download a pdf of each page to print, (there is a icon on the top of each page).
Can I create a new section or alter the structure?
Yes. You are able to make any changes to the structure you wish. Please consult the users guide for how to do this. Users' Guide
If I make a change is it permanent?
Wiki changes are only temporary by nature, when somebody changes something it remains like that only until somebody else alters it in another way. This is the point of wikis, so go ahead and make your edits.
How do I create a profile
To create a short profile with a short introduction about you and your background, please click on your user name in the top left corner of the website on the black bar. This will take you to a page where you can write a little about yourself. This means whenever another user clicks on your name they can see this information.
Do I have to attach my name to my comments and edits?
Your username is usually attached to comments or edits. We encourage all to provide usernames that are transparent, but understand that for some this may be difficult so this is not mandatory, we want good comments and edits wherever and whoever they comment from
What is My Talk?
If you want to make a comment only to a specific user, click on their name and write a message. This can then be seen in their My Talk area and you can begin a private conversation here.
Who is responsible for the comments labelled 'Consultation Recommendations'?
These are comments based on the recommendations which have been agreed by participants at a particular AA1000AS consultation. Participants agree on a set of recommendations at these conferences and AccountAbility have added these to the wiki in the form of comments and edits to ensure that these recommendations are a visible part of the process.
If you were at a consultation and feel that these comments do not reflect the recommendations of the consultation please say so on the wiki and also contact us to help resolve the matter
